E-BUSCO is an innovative project designed to help companies in Spain, Greece, and Italy integrate renewable energy more easily into their daily operations.
Through a collaborative approach and the use of advanced technologies, E-BUSCO addresses some of the biggest challenges faced by solar energy today, such as falling prices due to excess energy supply (energy cannibalization) and the limited utilization of available solar energy.
This project offers a solution to these challenges: cooperation between companies to share resources, such as energy storage, allowing for more efficient management of renewable energy production and consumption. Thanks to this approach, E-BUSCO improves the profitability of renewable energies without the need for expensive expansions to the electrical grid.
The project runs from September 2025 to 31 August 2028, with a total budget of €1,840,614.00, co-funded by the European Union under the LIFE Programme.
E-BUSCO is implemented through three Energy Cooperation Hubs (ECHs), located in:
- Lorca (Spain)
- Athens (Greece)
- Valsesia (Italy)
These hubs act as regional platforms to engage businesses, facilitate cooperation agreements, and test practical solutions for renewable energy integration and flexibility services.
Why it matters
Many companies are investing in photovoltaic systems.
Yet three structural barriers remain:
- Market saturation and falling energy prices
- Limited access to flexibility markets
- Lack of coordination between neighbouring businesses
E-BUSCO introduces cooperative business models that:
- Maximise the technical and economic viability of PV installations
- Enable participation in flexibility mechanisms
- Improve grid resilience at local level
- Increase long-term energy profitability
This is not just about installing solar panels.
It is about designing smarter energy ecosystems for businesses.
What the project does
LIFE E-BUSCO develops and tests cooperative energy schemes that combine:
- Shared renewable generation
- Energy storage systems
- Demand response participation
- Coordinated load management
The project creates Energy Cooperation Hubs (ECHs) in participating regions to:
- Train businesses
- Facilitate cooperation agreements
- Provide technical and regulatory guidance
- Support implementation of pilot actions
These hubs act as structured platforms where companies move from theory to operational energy collaboration.
Expected impact
By the end of the project, LIFE E-BUSCO aims to:
- Increase renewable energy uptake in the business sector
- Improve economic viability of photovoltaic installations
- Enhance local grid stability through coordinated flexibility
- Strengthen cooperation between companies and public actors
- Provide replicable models for other European regions
The project contributes to the EU clean energy transition while creating measurable business value.
Consortium

E-BUSCO is coordinated by Voltiva Energy (Spain) and has an international consortium formed by:
- Voltiva Energy
- EuroVértice
- Bamboo Energy
- Alimer
- Que Technologies
- Electra Energy
- RINA
- Engreen
