Access to energy requires more than infrastructure. It requires people with the skills to design, build, operate and maintain sustainable energy systems.
To strengthen the skills needed for Africa’s energy transition, RES4Africa Foundation promoted a Technical & Vocational School on Decentralized Renewable Energy Solutions.
As part of this initiative, Engreen contributed to the development of the training content and the delivery of the programme, collaborating with RES4Africa Foundation, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), Green Energy Park (GEP), and the UM6P Laboratory of Inorganic Materials for Sustainable Energy Technologies (LIMSET).
Through expert-led lectures, practical exercises, and real-world case studies, the programme provided participants with the technical and operational skills needed to deploy Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) solutions across Africa.
Why it matters
Across Africa, DRE solutions are becoming an essential tool to expand energy access, strengthen local economies and support sustainable development.
However, the deployment of these systems requires qualified technicians, engineers and project developers capable of working across the entire project lifecycle—from planning and engineering to construction, operation and business development.
Building local skills is therefore a critical component of long-term energy access and energy security.
Training programmes must continuously evolve to reflect new technologies, market trends and practical implementation challenges, ensuring that future professionals are prepared to respond to real-world needs.
