This creates both economic and geopolitical risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ATENA+ addresses this challenge by advancing sodium-ion batteries: a technology based on abundant materials, with the potential to reduce costs, increase safety, and strengthen Europe\u2019s energy independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What the project does<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>ATENA+ works across the full battery value chain\u2014from materials to system integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project focuses on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Developing advanced active materials with improved performance and lower environmental impact<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designing safer and more repairable battery cells and modules<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optimising manufacturing processes for scalability and sustainability<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integrating advanced battery management systems (BMS) with monitoring and control features<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Testing the technology in real operating conditions and virtually scaling it to full energy storage systems (BESS)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Expected impact<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>ATENA+ aims to make sodium-ion deployment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supports the validation and upscaling of the technology to full energy storage systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Works on replication scenarios, including applications in emerging contexts such as healthcare infrastructure in Africa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The role is to ensure that the solution is not only developed\u2014but applicable, scalable, and
