Today, that same spirit of solidarity is taking a new form: the <\/span><b>Renewable Energy Community (REC) of Valsesia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a project promoted by the <\/span><b>Unione Montana dei Comuni della Valsesia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Union of Mountain Municipalities of Valsesia) with the technical and strategic support of <\/span><b>EnGreen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is not just about solar panels or incentives. It\u2019s a collective vision of how a territory can rethink its energy model \u2014 reducing dependence on fossil fuels, retaining economic value locally, and strengthening social ties through a clean, shared, and community-managed energy network.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The project was launched with a clear goal: to create a shared model of energy production and consumption, based on distributed photovoltaic systems aggregated through a cooperative approach.<br data-start=\"191\" data-end=\"194\" \/>The <strong data-start=\"198\" data-end=\"227\">Valsesia Energy Community<\/strong> will start with approximately <strong data-start=\"258\" data-end=\"290\">600 kW of installed capacity<\/strong>, spread across public and private rooftops, schools, municipal buildings, and small local businesses.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Behind these numbers lies a deeper change: energy is no longer just a commodity \u2014 it becomes a <\/span><b>common good<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, managed and valued by those who live in the territory.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the three-year plan, the first phase (2025) focuses on <\/span><b>awareness and engagement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 informing, explaining, and building trust.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2026, the <\/span><b>first installations and energy-sharing operations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will start, while 2027 will mark the <\/span><b>expansion and consolidation phase<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, bringing in new members and investments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>EnGreen\u2019s role: strategy, engineering, and vision<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alongside the Unione Montana, <\/span><b>EnGreen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> plays a central role as both technical and strategic partner, guiding the community through every phase \u2014 from <\/span><b>technical and financial feasibility<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><b>legal establishment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, all the way to <\/span><b>design and implementation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the photovoltaic systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EnGreen\u2019s strength lies in combining engineering expertise with systemic thinking.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each Renewable Energy Community becomes part of a broader vision: <\/span><b>decarbonising territories<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through shared governance and local energy autonomy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EnGreen\u2019s approach is built on three main pillars:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Technical reliability<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 every plant is sized according to the real consumption profiles of its members, maximising collective self-consumption and minimising waste.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Economic sustainability<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 the project accesses <\/span><b>PNRR national recovery funds<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, covering up to 40% of investment costs for municipalities under 50,000 inhabitants, and benefits from GSE incentives for shared energy.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Participatory governance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 EnGreen supports the community in defining a transparent and inclusive decision-making model where citizens, businesses, and public entities collaborate as equals.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The result is a <\/span><b>bottom-up energy transition<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that is both concrete and replicable, where technology becomes a tool for strengthening local autonomy and social cohesion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>The impact on Valsesia: clean energy, local economy, stronger communities<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The impact of the Valsesia REC cannot be measured only in kilowatt-hours.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It means <\/span><b>cutting CO\u2082 emissions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but also <\/span><b>retaining economic value<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> within the territory \u2014 investing in local supply chains and generating a multiplier effect on the valley\u2019s economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The distributed installations will create <\/span><b>new opportunities for local businesses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 installers, technicians, suppliers \u2014 while citizens will gain access to <\/span><b>cleaner, more affordable energy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, actively contributing to the decarbonisation of their community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The business plan ensures <\/span><b>financial sustainability from year one<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, through a mix of public funds, membership fees, and revenues from the sale of surplus energy.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The initial investment \u2014 about \u20ac50,000\u201360,000 per year during the launch phase \u2014 is partly supported by EnGreen as a technical and financial contribution, reducing the burden on local authorities and speeding up the development of the first installations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yet, the true value of the Valsesia REC goes beyond economics: it\u2019s <\/span><b>cultural and social<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s about building awareness \u2014 a community capable of understanding and managing its own energy.
