Position: African Market Director

Duty station: Dakar, Senegal with for short-term missions in West Africa

Duties and responsibilities
The African Market Director will report to the CEO.
He/she will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Establish Engreen’s Africa Headquarter in Senegal, ensuring office, company and staff compliance to local standards and admin recurring requirements
- Lead the development of a sustainable team structure to support the operational requirements of the business
- Build portfolio of consultancy assignments and EPC projects in the energy sector in Africa in different market segments ( off-grid, grid- connected, C&I)
- Create a roster of donors, clients, investors in the continent and feed the network through participation to events, 1-2-1 meetings, workshops, etc.
- Engage with local and regional actors such as energy agencies, development programs, financing institutions, cooperation agencies on the purpose of creating partnerships and framework agreements.
- Continuously monitor Africa market performance, marketing, sales and project delivery.
- Responsible for Health, Safety, and Security for all activities in the country
- Support proposal and tender writing
- Occasionally support project management of specific assignments
Essential skills and qualifications
– 12-15 years in a senior leadership role in energy markets
– Advanced degree (Msc/MA) in Engineering/ Economics
– Strong experience in business development and general management
– Strong experience in renewable energy sector in Sub-Saharan Africa
– Knowledge and understanding of the international development and cooperation context
– Fluency in English and French
– Demonstrated ability in team management and collaboration
– Leadership attitude
Desirable skills
– Experience in off-grid energy systems
– Experience with key business development/project design tools (offers, theory of change, logical framework, etc.)
– Experience in both profit and non-profit sector
– Additional language requirement: Portuguese
